Prepare vehicle data streaming

Fleet Telemetry requires a supported vehicle and software version plus additional setup in Tesla. The setup differs by vehicle and computer type; not every vehicle is supported.

1

Check vehicle support

Most vehicles require firmware 2024.26 or later and a paired virtual key. Intel Atom Model S/X vehicles require firmware 2025.20 or later. Tesla may reject setup for unsupported hardware, older software, or configuration limits.

Pre-2018 Model S/X vehicles are not supported through the current Vehicle Command Proxy configuration path. Intel Atom Model S/X use the vehicle Safety screen setting “Allow Third-Party App Data Streaming” instead of a virtual key.

2

Add a key in the Tesla app when required

For vehicles that require a virtual key, open the dedicated link after authorizing your Tesla account and follow the Tesla app prompts to add this service's key. Use the same Tesla account in the app that you authorized with OAuth.

Open the virtual key pairing link

※ The vehicle key is separate from Tesla account authorization. Removing the key from the vehicle stops data streaming; Tesla account permissions can be revoked separately through Tesla Account Security.

3

Send the configuration and check for data

Enable Fleet Telemetry in Settings. Even after Tesla accepts the configuration, the first data may take time depending on the vehicle, firmware, and network. If no data has arrived, the dashboard shows that state instead of inventing a value or timestamp.

An accepted configuration is not the same as first data received. If data does not arrive, check Tesla account permissions, the required key or in-vehicle streaming setting, supported firmware, and connectivity.
